IMO meguairs is better then mothers. Meguairs also has a professional product line.
X2

Take some time and watch a few videos on how to and you will be thankful. I am an Adam's Polishes addict, they have a great forum like MCF only dedicated to detailing. The products are expensive, but work well. Another good site is auto geek.net, use it for how to and reviews.

Good luck and if you want it to shine a machine polish will be needed, Justin made a recommendation last week on a DA from Harbour Freight, I use my DA to seal and glaze before a hand wax application. Made it through the winter that way.

Stay away from the california water blade, you really don't want to be hitting your car with a squeegee.

As far as wax goes, I swear by this:

It goes on and comes off so easy, and leaves a great finish.

Again thanks for the recommendations all, one thing I forgot to ask about. What products would be good for cleaning up the engine bay?

Simply green works great, and foam tire shine for the hoses ect.
You will also needs some brushes, just never use them on the exterior paint.

Also, 1 clay bar kit comes with 2 bars usually. They will last you a few cars and or washes.
