This is actually a common problem on the Monte, maybe even other vehicles like the Impala. My 2004 Intimidator and my roommates 2000 ls both have the same problem. It seems that the clear coat is actually the only thing that comes off on ours. I haven't found out if GM covers this at all.

 

I may be wrong but the same thing happened with my sister's grand am and GM said there was a 100,000 mile warranty on the paint. Talk to your local dealer about it.

 

i agree it is a common problem among montes because mine is flaking off also and it has been for awhile. it sucks. i thought i heard it was from when chevy was trying out water based paints?? i dont know if thats correct or not but its what ive heard anyway
