Default outside Rear mirrors

I touched up the trim black around my windows, both of my rear view mirrors seem to fade out like trim black unless I compound them..are they supposed to be trim color? weird if they were.

It is weird, but yes they came from the factory matt black. My green '00 SS, red '01 SS and black '03 SS are all that way. The paint all seems wear out around the rounded front part too, probably due to wind and rain abrasion. I'll be repainting mine in gloss black soon.

I was thinking to just clear them over...they shine awesome when buffed.

I respectively disagree Amy. I bought my '00 SS new and that's the way it came. Always thought it was weird. A minor accident took out the driver's side once and the paint shop painted it to match the passenger side. I have 2 other gen. 6s the same way. "Matt" may not be the right description, but they were definitely not clear coat gloss black. Maybe they just didn't clear coat them. They don't shine as much as the door appliques. Maybe they changed in later production runs. I have a '00, '01, and '03 SS.

Honestly they don't look painted and mine are original factory and that's the way they came at least in 03 as "shiny" black plastic.
