Need To Remove Trunk Emblems. How?
#13
Are there sheetmetal nuts on the studs? The emblems on alot of the older cars have studs on the back that go through the panel and nuts holds them on from the back. Not sure about the older montes tho. If there is nothing on the studs then they may just be alignment pins and the emblem may be held on with adhesive or double sided tape.

use floss at the top until you get it off for the most part and then just pull with even pressure and it will come off

I work at a bodyshop and I use a flat bladed putty knife and VERY carefully move side to side with the handle and once it is off, there will be excess emblem tape on the car. ( mine was like concrete.) you can either use dx-330 (wax and grease remover) to help soften it up. But either way you will have to use either your thumb, pushing pretty hard, in one direction to get it off. You can also use a dry cloth and go in one direction with that. When you get it completely off you will see a "ghost" image of the emblem. No problem! Take some rubbing compound and rub the compound where the emblem was. Then wipe off. You might see swirl marks, so you might need to get some swirl free compound for after the initial compound... Hope that this helps you out!!!

My monte is dark blue and I would like to take the "Monte Carlo" emblem off the back of it. Since my car has 60,000 miles on it, I am afraid that I will always see this ghosted image of where it used to be. Luckily, my sister is dating a guy that does detailing part time so hopefully I could have him buff the hell out of it. Would buffing it out work? Or would I be plagued with a ghosted image returning?

just use some wax and rubbing compound. it may take 2 or 3 tries and it will go away. my car has 71K miles and you cant see it anymore.
