Default monte carlo interior

I just bought a 70 Monte, my first restoration. What im looking for is how to find out if the front seat are original. I need to get the front seats recovered and had several quote but also telling me that the 70 monte did not come with a bench front seat with a armrest. However i do have this and the front seat matches the back perfect. The front seat also has a power seat switch 4 way. I have alot of questions to find out more on the car. If any one could help this would be great. Thanks Scuba

ok first of all lets see photos of the 70 M/C. i had oen once i lost it in the big D and not Dallas either.

Anyway. yes it is true they had bench seats in some models of the car that year and also some were with the arm rest and soem wernt. But also the chvell had the same seats at this time and so did the novas and the Elcaminos.

Then the other thing you need to do is to ge tthe V.I.N. numbers off the cowl and also the body tags and cowl tags. start runnign the numbers this will tell you what to look for in your car and also what should be in the car if it is not or not.

Also see if ya can find the build sheet on the car most of the time it will eb in the rear 1/4 window side of the car on the drivers or passengers side behind the door pannels.

Or if it is nso thtere and the car looks pretty org. then look under the back seat and even on top of the gas tank for some reason they thought that was fun to do to.
you can also call the Cheverolet operator and get a Restoration kit for that year car. they take your V.I.N. number when they do this as it is only one per car and if they got it already then you cant get oen unles syou can think of a V.I.n. real quick that hasent been called in.

Also the other thing to do with the car is start documenting everythign from the time you got it to the time you start buildign it to finished resto. this will help you out emensly for times tha tyou need ot know where part a gose and you have part b in the worng place.

I found a real cheap video recorder and hooked it up in the shop on a tri pod and hung it from teh celing so tha ti coudl see the whole car for the most part then got oen for the other side and did it on the car also.

i would hit record on them when i started on teh car. it shows i did the work and also if im taking somethign apart ihad a work bench that i could zoom in on it to make sure i didnt mis place thing etc...

also now in the digital age find a cheap camera at least 5meg pix. this will allow you to zoom in on things in a photo editor program like Gimp or Photo shop to help with reassembly on the car.

also you can get repops of the manuals on the car threw paddock i think is where ei got mine that or Dixe montecarlo one of them had them they were well worth the money to ge tthem.

Goodl luck would love to see ya start a thread on this and allow us to follow along with you as ya do it. with photos etc...
If you need ehlp ask if i can do it i will help you .
