Kev's 1979 Monte Carlo (frame off project)
I don't know how I haven't seen this thread before now, but you are definitely a man with a plan!
I look forward to seeing your updates and especially the car once it is finished. Outstanding!
what springs did you go with? i havent kept up with youre thread. ive seen people run the moog springs for an s10 with the second gen fbody spindles, and brakes with the hotchkiss or global control arms, but never the blazer spindles. i know with the setup i mentioned it drops the nose a couple of inches, and gives you the bigger brakes. what kind of drop is this set up going to give you and how big of a rotor up front? like i said i havent kept up with this thread too much info to sift through. what rear and rear brake setup are you going with? the build is awesome keep up thegood work.
thanks man!
those are 2" lowering springs from OPGI. told by other forums that the springs handle kinda like eibachs. my front lower and upper arms will bring the front down another 1". so it'll be like lowered 3" on fronts & 2" on rear.
talked to Tobin @Kore3 and he said the blazer spindles got a better design for the C5 brake upgrade than the stock g-body spindles. the blazer has bolt on hub - the g-body you need to machine a stock rotor down to use it as a hub. there are a few shops you can buy custom g-body hubs but if you can find blazer spindles + hubs (only the 98+, 2-door, 2wd) it'll be a lot easier for the whole upgrade. with the blazer spindels the whole upgrade is like a bolt on - with the stock g-body spindle you need to do a lot of work (metal cuts, drill and tap).
For now I'll use the stock rearend and brakes - but will upgrade with a 8.5" GM or 9" Ford later.
