Ever consider clear coating the polished parts?
Yeah but I'm unsure of if I need a special clear coat lol.. that would be really nice though!

I'm confused too- I could see chroming the mounts, and engine bay bars and such if you wanted a mirror finish- but on raw steel, you're just making it much more susceptible to rust by removing all of the paint and primer and such.

I've had nothing on the car chromed.. I'm against the idea of paying someone to do something I can do with time and work. But we shall see on the steel. I'll keep everyone posted as it rusts to crap since that's what everyone seems to think will happen

Thanks!

I'm really not too concerned about anything rusting. I feel that if it were ruffed up with a low grit paper it would be very susceptible to rust. BUT, since it's polished up to the point that it's almost perfectly smooth (not to mention the fact that it has been sealed multiple times with a metal sealant) I see no issue occurring with rust as long as it's maintained, WHICH IT WILL BE

No one is saying it will rust to crap, but more as in getting surface rust easily. The second it gets surface rust again, off you go with sand paper and polish again.

I see nothing wrong with polishing steel, as the mene's say let the haters hate! It will just be like anything else polish it will take more upkeep but as long as you realize you need to be on top of it and keep up with it your fine,

It is deffiniatly unique and makes your Monte stand out!

All he has to do is seal it. All "chrome" used to be was polished stainless. If he applies some kind of wax, oil, or even clear coats it it will be fine.
