Cleaned and detailed the underside, 02 Monte
Been about 4 years since I went under the car to detail it. Did a courtesy look up underneath a couple weeks back, saw it was in decent condition, but there were tell tell signs of rust starting on the exhaust welds. Succumbed to the need and went about dealing with getting the exhaust back in order and one thing lead to the other, ended up cleaning the whole dang underside. Not bad for appearing for a 23 year old cars underside. Good ol fashion elbow grease...
Repaint exhaust, cleaned with paint prep, apply adhesion promoter, high temp primer, high temp paint.
Renewed the exhaust for a few more years. It is now easily 12 years old, just keep maintaining it over the years.
Crusty ground effects, road tar etc, need cleaned, repainted
CAT way to rear of car, O2 sensor relocated way rearward too.
Cradle etc. halfway back in order.
QTP exhaust cut out.
The car has lived under the carport it's whole life, original paint job

Nice, caught someones attention. Dude, it is as you would know, a few handful of hours to keep the underside of a car somewhat squared away. All it takes is a 4 year hiatus of a good wipedown and bam, it's like, I didn't think I drove it that much, how did it get so jacked up like that down there. You may have noticed, even metal polish the cradle too, why not right. Thanks Jason
I'm going to try and do another event with you, the Carlisle event seems like they get rained on every year, (so it seems, watching the national weather), make a mental note and yep, there goes a heavy storm right through there again. Maybe will do the Monte Carlo one, the one with all the gens of Montes, might be something to do. Probably 500 miles closer too. That last drive to GM nat's, that was like 2.5 days, dicking around driving to and from there and dodging hail storms n such. Pulling under bank drive throughs at nights for shelter etc. Jealous of your garage, flippin monster sized.

Actually, the GM Nationals have been rain free for the past few years. 2024 was insanely and brutally hot. I already have my hotel booked for 2026.
The 2026 Monte Nationals will be near part of Rt66 in part due to the 100th anniversary of Rt66. It will be hosted in Collinsville, IL. I already booked my hotel room for that as well.
Would love to have you bring that outstanding Monte out to one of these events. It was awesome having you at the GM Nationals, cannot express how cool it was to meet you and check out your Monte in person.
Wow Zippy; that is some detail job. Fantastic, back in 2018 I bought a Cat back stainless steel exhaust system for the MC.
I took the thing to the Garage I usually have my work done and the guy that worked on it was complimenting me on the underside being so clean. I had not really done to much to it other that a hold the spray nozzle under it to wash it a little bit.
Then I had a judge at a carshow crawl under it to see if it was rusty. He thought it was really clean.
So then I found some mirrors to try an show off the underside at carshows.
I found that the Judges actually used that against me to take more points off the car for speck of dirt here or there. Now if I could find a way to mount squirt guns under it and have them operate by remote control I would get even with them stupid judges.
