Utah Veterans home car show
Attended a pretty cool car show on Sat. 22 Aug. A new veterans rest home here in Utah had a open house and car show. I have to say it was in the top 5 car shows I have been too. There was also a cruise where a veteran from the home would get a spot in one of the cars and we then went on a about a 20 mile cruise around the lake and along the back country roads. Of course I kept falling behind in the convoy and then would have to use "Catch up" speed to get back into my convoy position. The vet. "Lyn" who rode with me was a crew chief on B-52's out of Guam and flew missions over N. Vietnam.
He was pretty cool, I had a USGI steel pot with me which Lyn wore during our cruise. We talked for quite a while and then I put on military marching music and even the Ride of the Valkyries. Had the exhaust cut out 100% open, windows down, music blasting and we were flying once again. He absolutely loved it. All the food from the monstrous burgers, hotdogs, ice cold watermelon, bottled water. cotton candy etc. were free too, eat as much as one wanted. This place was hopping... Had way to much fun, sat down to eat with an ex- Lt. Col US Army MP who was on the first wave of occupying soldiers to land in Japan in 45, another was a full Army Colonel ex -corp of engineers who was helped in the reconstruction of Germany. Sadly he was pretty far gone physically, but his son in attendance told me his fathers story. For sure going aqain next year, bet there were 50 plus cars in attendance.
Here are a few photo's:
My ride along "Lyn" USAF Vietnam Vet
See picture in car, it is of his car owners son, only 22 KIA in Afghanistan
f I could have other car out there this would be it...
1 of only 3,000 Lincoln Continental MKII's built, think this is a 56 or so year car.
