Just Changed The 6x9's On The Rear Deck
Greetings, I just recently changed the rear speakers from stock to Infinity Kappas. I did this in anticipation of putting a sub woofer in the trunk. It definitely is crisper, but it seems that as I increase the radio volume past around half way that the bass reduces. I have an 03 SS with the stock rear amp. Would it be worth doing the amp bypass? I am not looking for more bass or volume from the setup (that's what the sub will be for) but I would like a little predictability. Can the stock radio be stable at 2 ohms? Thanks, Jim.

it's stable without the amp but you gotta have an amp to hear it. ohms load is present in the amplifier not the head unit unless the h.u. has an internal amp, obviously...lol. also gotta have a Pac-Loc or an integration unit/dsp to create rca"s for your amp(s)

the stock headunit reduces bass at louder volumes to protect the stock speakers. I have the same problem with my new system. My subs get crazy loud as the volume goes up to 5, but dont get much louder after that.

I was under the impression that it was programed into the amp. Now as far as the stock radio not having an amp it does. I was looking for some insight before I take the time and bypass the amp. Here is a "how to" on bypassing the amp . http://impalahq.naioa.com/HowTo/Amp_bypass.html
