Default Bad headunit, bad amp, or bad wiring?

Ok, so recently (about starting 3 weeks ago), I've had a problem with my radio where the noise will randomly cut in and out. It would get staticy, cut out, then fade back in. Also, whenever the car is off and I would open the door, there would be static and popping running though the speakers, when the key wasn't even in the car. Now, nothing plays through speakers at all (FM, AM, CD, all driver sounds lost, the sounds like when resetting fuel mileage thing or turning traction control off). I thought the amp was bad so I have a buddy with a Monte Carlo, we took his amp plugged it into my car, nothing. I checked fuse and it was fine. What does this sound like? My dads friend is very good with car audio and he told me over the phone that it sounds like the headunit is bad. What does it sound like to you? Thank you!

What are some signs that the HU is bad? Does all the driver beep messages run through the headunit or the amp?

Btw the car is an 04 with the stock headunit

If everything is stock as far as the wiring, amp, and headunit. Since you checked your amp already, I would say it would be the headunit especially if none of the modes are working. I would say it is time to get another headunit.

That is what I am thinking. Honeslty I kind of want to get something with a screen anyway so I'm not too mad this happened. Just gives me a chance to get a different headunit honeslty. Just don't want to spend $250 on one if the headunit is still good. Anyone else? Thoughts?

I agree it sounds like a HU problem.

If you want a decent cheap touch screen headunit I have one that I used which is called a pyle double din, here is a link:
Amazon.com: Pyle PLDN74BTI 7-Inch Double-DIN TFT Touchscreen DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/MP4/CD-R/USB/SD-MMC Card Slot/AM/FM/iPod Connector and Bluetooth: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Pyle PLDN74BTI 7-Inch Double-DIN TFT Touchscreen DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/MP4/CD-R/USB/SD-MMC Card Slot/AM/FM/iPod Connector and Bluetooth: Car Electronics
I have had it for over a year and haven't had any issues with it. It is like $150. Everything seems to work fine. I can't say much about how it sounds with speakers because I use an aftermarket amp. Ill look for a pic and post what it looks like in the monte.

Thank you! Anyone else? Need as many opinions as possible before I drop a good amount of money on a new headunit. Theres no possible chance it would be wiring? Sounds like the headunit?

Here is what it looks like in my monte. You do have to cut your dash a little bit to get the headunit to flip out.

Here is a video I made about it too.
