I would've suggested regular blank rotors personally. Would've saved you some money and would work just fine.

I would think that a bad hub bearing would cause play in all directions if it's just flat worn out. It may be best to get someone else to rock it back and forth while you get in close to look for where the play is occurring.

You need to have them move it gently so you can figure out what is moving vs what isnt. That joint is the component that's worn.
