Default wheel opinion poll

OK after a few days of searching and following links from all the help on here I think I have narrowed down my options. Keep in mind these are all 17" diamond cut wheel just different finishes/options and pricing options include all tax and shipping.

1. High polished aluminum finish with center caps - $550

2. Chrome finish without center caps (reusing stock brushed aluminum ones, looks decent I've seen it in person) - $769

3. Chrome finish and buying new GM center caps - approx. $870-$900

I think these are all pretty much going to look the same in picture form. The SLP 16" wheels were high polished I believe and they pretty much look just like chrome. And the pics of the 17" version I have found appear to be chrome like from the picture. But for arguments sake lets try it anyway
High polished version

Chrome version

I think I actually like the High polished version in these pictures, the chrome one seems to still have a "rough" center section on the spokes. Other chrome versions of this wheel may not be like that, but that was the first pic I found.

i agree the polished ones do look better than the chrome ones in those pics. i'm thinking of the rims on the intimidator edition though, i think those are chrome and they look so nice on that car.

I would expect most chrome ones to look like the wheels on the Intimidator or very very close to the same, otherwise they wouldn't be an option anyway for me.

If in fact the polished ones look as good in that pic that they do in person I'd go with those. Another thing about the chome wheels, I have them on my 05 and there is a texture on the insides of the spokes, that to me dosen't look quite right (you can see it in the pic you posted).

I like polished aluminum way better, I might be the oddball though. Polished aluminum takes some work to keep clean, but you can almost always buff them up and make them look nice even if they get dirty. Chrome (especially factory chrome) is way too finicky for me. IMO they are way too susceptible to pitting and peeling.

And where (just out of curiosity) did you find the 17 inch polished?

i think the opposite if its chromed aluminum id go that route. i have polised aluminum and they scratch super easy and are constant upkeep to look good. they look nice until you actually drive the car and the unavoidable happens. plus the factory polished aluminums should have a clear coat that can haze and peal and scratch. if that happens you could strip the clear and polish and buff the bare aluminum itll look like chrome but then your back to constant upkeep. go with the chromed aluminum.
