Default whats the biggest rim size for stock struts??

i currently own a 2001 monte carlo ls 3.4L and im in the need of getting some tires i have been looking around and im seeing i can get some good deals for rims and tires but i currently have 16" rims on my car now but ive been looking at some nice 17" rims and tires for cheap in practically new condition and i would like to get them but i notice i have struts all around and i need to know if the tires would rub on the stock struts or atleast know the biggest size tire and dimensions of it so i can know and be looking for a tad smaller size than the max. thank you any help will be helpful.

I had 20s on my Monte and the only time it rubbed was when Im on the interstate and the road is uneven causing it to bounce like a ship or if I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right and drive... The front tires never rubbed but the back ones always did when going over bumps and stuff.

I have 245/35R20 on 20x8 with stock struts for the past 18 months no rub at all. I would say 17" stockers or 18's 19's or 20's aftermarket !

It's not the size of the rims, it's the size of the rims + tires. As you get larger with rims, you need to get lower sidewall tires. Then the overall size of both stays the same as stock.

In the winter I run my ugly stock 16s with the 225/60/16, and in the summer I run 18s with 245/45/18 tires. No rubbing here.

I rub a little and I have 235 55 17 size on. Just got brand new tires. Didn't rub with the old tires.
