What to do with the Extra 20"
So after getting my rims installed , turns out that the tire shop nicked one of the rims slightly and so I got a great deal on it for a spare when they ordered/installed a brand new replacement.......
So my question is this.......
What the hell do I do with it......
Besides the obvious put a tire on it, keep it in the trunk as a spare.....
I would like to "mount" it somewhere in the trunk with like a custom box or something....
Any Ideas??
Thanks in advance guys....

i think the obvious is the best thing to do with it... but it probably wouldn't fit in that little hole where the mini spare goes.
maybe you could make a good decoration in your garage or something out of it?

Nah not gonna fit in that hole.......
That was my first thought too...
The stock 16" and tire wouldn't even fit in there. And I dont think it would be worth it to try to mod that hole in any way...

The spare tire well in most modern cars are designed to fit the donut spares only.
You'd take up about 90% of your trunk space if you kept it in there as a usable spare.
If I had the room, I'd keep the rim in the garage or something. Use it as a spare rim incase you ever damage one of the rims on the car.
If not, you can always sell it.

I had a friend who took a rim, mounted a tire on it, then mounted it on a stand, covered it with a piece of glass and had a pretty cool table. If I remember correctly, it wasa Crager S/S rim and Mickey Thompson slick. For the glass, he gave the measurement to a glass company and had them cut it out, and I don't think it was that expensive.
To make the stand, he went to the junkyard and bought a hub with a bolt pattern that fit the rim, welded it to a piece of pipe, then welded the other end to a piece of plate he cut round for a base. Sandblasted the whole thing, painted it, and then mounted the rim and tire on it. Made a little sitting area in his garage with it. Nice!

if you keep it in your trunk the entire trunk will be worthless, cant haul anything, wont be able to put decent subs in there and if you do squeeze some in they will sound like *** becasue the wheel will be taking away all the room for the sound vibrations to resonate. i agree with the others, either put it away safe somewhere and use the doughnut to get you back to the house to install that one if need be or make it into some sort of ornament.

i thought about telling him to sell it... but who would buy just 1 rim?

Personally I like the table idea. I remember seeing a similar table on one of the umpteen t.v. car programs (like Horsepower TV). They went a little cheaper though. They simply got an old axel, mounted a scrap rim on one side, then painted it. Then they mounted the decorative rim to the other side, set it up on the floor, then laid a piece of clear lexan on top.
It was more decorative than functional though.
If you were going to make a table out of it, I think you should do it right and go with rchurch's method.
Or you could hang it on the wall, and try making a clock out of it.
