Default Tire Recommendations?

Hey everyone, it's about time to start looking for new tires to put on the monte. Which tires do you like best? Which do you recommend? I would need to get All-Season tires since I live in Iowa and it is my daily driver. I have the stock 16 inch wheels and I've been thinking of getting the Goodyear Eagle GT's. What does everyone think?

Don't know much about the Eagle GT's. I've always liked the Goodyear Eagle RS-A; the 2000+ Monte factory tire. The last set of tires I put on my 03 the guy had a difficult time finding a set of RS-A's but did find them. I have Pirelli P Zero Neros on my 06 currently and those are a very nice tire. I'm about ready for a new set this summer and will probably either go with the P Zero Nero again or the RS-A. I'd possibly go with Eagle F1 GS-D3, although I'm not sure how I feel about a directional tire.

The Cruze has Michelin Pilots that seem to be pretty solid.

I am on my 5th set of tires. So far these Toyo Proxess have given me the best performance vs. wear....and they were $120 each installed and balanced.

I recently had the Goodyear RSA's, two different pairs of Capitol's (America Tire private labels), and Sumitomos. All which wore out completely under 40k miles.

These Toyo's have 20k and they still look new and grip very nicely in all weather.

My parents had eagle GTs on their Monte SS, they only got 11,000 miles out of them and then they failed PA inspection.

I can't recommend them.

LOL sounds about the same for the BF Goodrich I run, superior gripping but wear out very quick. Learning to take it easy on them now. Doesn't Continental make a pretty good tire?

I have RSA Good Years for one reason only so i can keep my lettering like the factory tires but imo they suck, wore out way to fast on my chrysler, id say Toyo Proxis 4 would be good

Well I have been looking and the Toyo Proxes are a little bit out of my price range. I have heard good things about pirelli but they don't make the tires in the size that I need.. Would it make a difference if I got 225/50-16 instead of the stock 225/60-16 size? Or could I even go with 235's on my stock rims?

Don't change the overall size of the tires, your speedo will be off.

Continental makes a decent tire. You just have to really keep a look at the treadware rating, and if possible, see if you can get a tread-life warranty.

Super Grip usually means lower tread life. Try to find a really balanced tire.
