Default Strut Tower Brace For '04 Monte LS Wanted

I'm just starting to look for a used Strut Tower Brace.

Or, discussion why I really don't need the thing at all!

You need it. You don't think you do until you have it :P

They don't seem that expensive.

Thought I would chime in with my experience, concerning a STB. I purchased one from ZZperformance, specifically asking for them to elongate the mounting holes, since I had read on the forum that would be necessary. Also, I mentioned if the brace would fit an LS model with 3.4 L engine.

Anyhow, I purchased the brace and it arrived a week later. The holes were not elongated, but a friend with a die grinder took care of that in about 5 minutes.

However, the brace simply does not fit. It doesn't clear my alternator, even with several washers in place.

Just get one that specifically for your model, because trying to make something fit is just crap!

Yep,
If you look at the older Monte LS that came with the STB stock, then you'll notice that it isn't just a straight bar like the SS uses. It's bent into a slight "P" shape kinda.

I'd definitely make sure that you get the one designed for the LS model.
You should be able to find them easily in junkyards, or buy one through a GM dealer. They did come stock on the LS up until 2003 I believe.

Yes, I had to elongate the holes on my ZZP STB to make it fit, but then it fit fine with no clearance issues. See for yourself:

Yes, it obviously works on an SS. Very clean btw, nice ride!

Unfortunately, I have an LS, that I am happy with. It's super clean, low mileage (20,xxx) and rides great. Just wish ZZperformance would paid more attention to my emails before selling me that bar that does not fit an LS.

Riggs-I have located a few OEM strut bars on Ebay that are specifically for an LS and yes they are not straight. Thanks.
