HAHA well My 05 Has the pull handle and im 5'6 also and its GREAT!! I do the same thing quick PULL and Move your ARM FAST lol... I donno what you guys bought NOT LOOKING FOR THE TRUNK HANDLE come on........ that was the first thing I looked for.
My 05 also didnt come with a STB but came with the other 2 bars....

Well, at some point I may install a STB but will get one of the ones that don't require any drilling into the strut tower. The trunk handle would be nice. I can probably find one somewhere. The local JY doesn't have any 2000-2005 Monte's in it so I will have to search a little further out.

my 04 monte ss L36 didnt come with one either but my girlfriends 02 monte ls has one. i often wondered y hers did and mine didnt also. im the second owner so i thought maybe someone took it off but i guess it never had one! no worries bmr arms are going on mine someday lol

 

They stopped putting STB's in the Monte in 03 or 04...

You can add one if you want.

 

What is this "quick pull and move your arm fast" maneuver that you all speak of?
Your truck lift shocks must be worn. I have trouble getting my trunk to latch.
I gotta slam the dang thing 6 out of 10 times!

 

Sounds like you are the one with the trunk problem

Not us. The shocks help raise the trunk and keep it open. Going down they shouldn't fight you haha
