Does anybody know how to clean the clear coat of yellowing off the 18 inch ss wheels. They look terrible. I refuse to drive my car with the rims looking like this. Any help would be needed.

 

I used Acetone or fingernail polish remover from the Walmart Cosmetics department, and a Microfiber cloth.
Keep working it until the clear coat finish is removed.
Then you can buff it up with a polisher & Metal polish.
Then you can re-clear them or take them to a Body shop and have them re-clear the wheels.

 

I have been wanting to do that. Is it as easy as it sounds?

 

I use circa 1850 furniture stripping liquid. Put it on and it bubbles up then wipe it off and Polish with an aluminum Polish if done correctly it has an almost chrome look and if you have capabilities you can clear coat it and it stays looking very sharp. Not hard to do just time consuming

 

The acetone cleans up everything just don't splatter it on anything you want to keep good. It will take some elbow grease but it works really well. Stubborn stuff use a 3M pad you may be able to use steel wool too. not tried that. wear gloves and eye protection.

One time I had this Tan shirt with a #3 on it and I got a pen in the Pocket and a huge ink stain. So I used the finger nail polish remover (acetone) and dipped it in the liquid. So I didn't have much to loose and I cleaned it up after a few dipping's and a change of the liquid. Washed the shirt and you cannot tell it and the fabric is still perfect.

 

For polishing, I have used Klasse AIO with good results.
