Default Springs on FE4 suspension.

Does anyone know for sure if the springs on the FE4 suspension are different than the springs for the other Monte suspensions? Thanks.

The FE3 is the Impala SS suspension package and the FE4 is the Monte Carlo SS suspension package. They're the same architecture and boast beefier components for the Super Sport package over the base suspension packages for both cars. Stepping down, the FE1 is the base Impala suspension package and FE2 is the base Monte Carlo suspension package.

That said, the FE4's struts are tuned differently for a firmer ride, better handling and control over the FE2 package. However, from the looks of it, the springs themselves are the same between the FE2 and FE4. There is only one version of spring listed on all the OEM GM parts websites.

I have the FE2 Suspension off of a GTO. Everything swapped out except for the springs. I re-used those.

That is what I was wanting to know. Rockauto.com only shows one spring set for everything. New spring sets are not that expensive for these cars so I might get new springs with the struts I'm planning on getting. Thanks again for the information.

I’ve been looking at upgrading my suspension on my ‘04 Monte Carlo SS.
my placard states FE3 so FE3 is not confined to Impala.
Just wanted to put my .02.

Looking to replace my struts. I want to keep original ride height (measured from center of wheel, Front 16.25", Rear 17.25") I'm looking at buying AC Delco struts.
Question: Car has just hit 100,000 miles. so I will also replace the strut mounts. Should I buy them without bearings and buy the bearings separate for $20. a piece?

I like to stay with OEM parts. When I did mine, I bought OEM mounts from the dealership which I believe came with the bearing. I'd check with a dealership to verify. I've lowered two 6th Gen Montes now and both times replaced the struts and mounts. I've had bad experiences with aftermarket mounts.

The aggressively styled 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo heats up the sizzling mid-car segment with enhanced premium-quality features, racing-inspired styling, a new family of powerful engines, as well as thoughtful attention to detail.

Totally a new look
