Default Review: Falken Ziex ZE912

My Goodyear Eagle GT's finally wore out after 5 years and I wanted some more but they were a little out of my price range this time around so I ended up getting some tires I had before that did me right, the Falken Ziex ZE912

I previously owned the model these replaced, the ZE512's and I loved them! They were quiet and handled lovely dry pavement but really blew me away on wet pavement so I decided to try the new ZE912's. These are supposed to be better in all aspects than the 512's they replaced, I guess time will tell. It was dry out here today and I only drove on them from the shop to home (about 10 minutes on surface streets) and noticed that they absorbed more of the bumps in the road and when I made turns you could really hear the tread gripping the road. I took a couple turns at a higher speed than I normally would/should and the tires pretty much laughed at my efforts to get them to lose traction.

When I got home, my driveway is on a slope and sometimes I will blip the throttle as i'm going up the driveway and the tires will chirp....not today! Super grippy, I just hope they last.

We're gonna be getting some rain tonight and tomorrow so I'm gonna see how they do in wet weather then and will post back.

I paid $400 for these from a local shop, mounted/balanced/free flat repairs/free rotation/free rebalancing, etc. Not bad so far for a 65k tire.

With the good experience I had with the ZE512's and the good first impression so far with these 912's, I think i'm gonna get the 452's when I get my 20's.

Nice to know other folks have these tires and love them, I see you SB!

I can't remember the last time i've been so excited and anxious to get rain

Well, i've driven them in wet and dry weather and all I can say is "Wow!" These are some very well behaved tires, they perform equally well in wet and dry weather, are very quiet and very reassuring that they can and will do their job when duty calls.

How would you compare them to your GoodYear Eagle GTs that you had previously?

The GT's definitely had more weight reduction (as in dollars out of my wallet) but I can't give a fair and accurate comparison cause I don't remember if I really pushed them like I have these. One thing I can say though is that the GT's lasted me 5yrs, if I can get that kind of useage out of these tires I'll be happy.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these tires, it just depends on how much you want to spend. If you don't mind dropping 5 big faces on a set of tires, the GT's are for you. If you want the performance without the cost, you'll love these Falkens!

i have had a set of these now for about 14 months ad its already time to replace them after 22k miles! its i good tire but man not good mileage on a 40k rated tire. anyone have ideas on a tire that will last a bit longer than these?

Mine are rated at 65k per Falken. Doubt they'll see that much cause i'm saving for some 20's! Did you keep them inflated properly and rotate them on schedule?

I have the 912's ( 245/45R18) and with 12,000kms the fronts were half worn. I check the pressure regularly so thats not the issue and I mainly do straight highway driving. Great tires but terrible trend wear.
