Default Rear Shock Removal

I have a 79 monte carlo. I was replacing the shocks today and after resorting to a dremel on the front stem nuts, I was looking forward to an easier experience in the rear. Or so I thought...It looks like the upper retaining bolts on the rear shocks have a nut on the back. Well I guess it wouldn't be an issue if there was any room at all to get at those nuts. Surely someone else has dealt with removing these upper mounting bolts. If there is an easy way to get those nuts out of there, please indulge me.

Many thanks in advance,
Doug
