Pirelli Pzero nero. Not the Pinna ones, just the regular. They are ultra high performance all season tires. Grip like glue and look cool at the same time. Very meaty feel to them, but not in a bad way. Not too expensive either.

Check out Tirerack.com. I just put on Goodyear Eagle GTs ultra high performance all seasons on my 05 SS and they are incredible - very good price and outstanding performance. Another tire you can look at is the Goodyear Eagle F-1s (a bit more money), I know it comes in a ultra high performance all weather and I think it comes in summer performance. Check the website out on the sizes.
@MRL390 I had Pirelli Pzero nero on my 05 Mustang V-6 with 17" wheels and I didn't think that tire performed well at all, at least on a RWD vehicle.

I have the Pirelli P'zero Nero M+S Pinna's on mine in the same size (P235/55ZR17), and I like them. Hell of a lot better than stock, and grip fairly well. I don't have much of a basis for comparison versus other performance tires on this car yet though. I bought them because they were one of the highest rated performance all-season tires on tirerack, and they were also only like $80 at the time.

For this summer, I have a set of 18" rims and Nexen N3000 tires on them which are supposed to be really good for the price (not so great in winter though I hear).

I second the recommendation for TireRack.com though.
Even if you don't buy from there, they have an excellent rating system and tons of reviews that help you pick out tires. Their prices are usually really good and shipping isn't too bad. The only downside is that most shops will charge you a good bit more for install since you didn't buy the tires from them.

Good luck with the search, and post up a review of your new tires when you get them.

Thumbs up thanks for feedback

hi guys
i looked at tireracks.com and the eagles (f1,GT) were better in snow but loud. i use snowtires in winter so it seems pretty easy to pick the pirelli which was reviewed as quiet. so now can i ask you, how about going with 235/50 or 45? i need to get a little more side to side response from the monte i think...plus i'm a bit surprised after abusing a masda 6 for a while that it has better stopping power than the monte so maybe the wider tires would help there too? whatyathink

thanks much for the advise thus far, i'm in boston in case anyone is driving over

regards
Roy

Ive had nothing but a good experience with my pirellis. They grip the dry pavement well, are quiet and they look good. They arent the best for snow but thats not really what they are for. The fact that they didnt perform well on your mustang doesnt mean they wont do well on a monte. What didnt you like about the tires?
