Default New Winter Tires For The Intimidator SS

I just ordered up a new set of Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW-3s P235-55-R17 tires today. Been looking for the best prices. Tire Rack has the best prices, but by the time you pay shipping and installation, well. Discount Tire I've been dealing with FOREVER (I'm an old fart) quoted me $723.80 out the door. I order a set from Boland Tire in Sturgis MI, which is the town I work in) for $670 out the door. I saved $54 over Discount Tire, and TOTAL convenience in having them installed. No loss of work, or driving an hour or more away. Matt Boland and the boys at Boland Tire are taking care of me AGAIN.
I just hope I can get 2 winters out of these tires, as I paid $900 for Michelin Pilot A/S tires, and they are TOAST after LESS than 2 winters.
Good looking tires IMO. Lots of siping, and that's important in winter driving.

I was going to recommend the TripleTreds to you but those Ultras look like they have a good tred pattern as well.

The grooves will help with the snow while the tight thin cuts will help on the ice.

We have the Eagle F1s on the Solstice GXP. Decent, but could be better. Probably the BEST Goodyear Eagle All Season tire made.
I was originally intending to get the Triple Treds, but with 2 sets of wheels, it made more sense to get true winter tires, instead of all seasons. The advantages are HUGE! And, these are IMO, good looking tires. Hoping to get 2 winters from them. We'll see!

I agree. That was what I was trying to post but I don't think I made myself very clear.

Those winter tires will provide ALOT of help in the snow and ice.

After driving on these for the last month on LOTS of snow and ice covered roads, I must say, this was a wise decision in getting the winter tires vs the all-season tires. The grip is fantastic. I forgot how well winter tires grip. But then I've never had winter tires on a FWD car. I thought the Michelin Energy tires were good, but these are GREAT!

HIGHLY recommended for anybody looking at new WINTER only tires.
