Default New tire size, 245/45/18?

I've got a 02 mc and am buying a set of ASA AR9 wheels, i'm going 18 inches and its off tirerack. right now my tires are 225/60/16, so upgrading to tireracks recommended tire size of 245/45/18 would be aproximately the same height overall, but the width would be about another 3/4's of an inch larger. my stock tires seem to look tight enough as it is in the rear, and feel fairly close to the springs so i was wondering if anyone was running the 245's, and if anyone would know if they would rub the springs in back, or in front for that matter.

Thanks

also if you got an opinion on the wheels i'd love to hear it

I've got 255-45-17's and lowered 1 -1/2" with Eibach springs on my '02 and they don't rub unless I hit a really big bump or I have 2 people in the back seat and hit a bump, if that will help any.

Hi `Jenkins,
I really like your rim choice, especially with the inserts
that you can change with your `mood's.

They should not rub unless you trunk is filled with junk,
have 3 bigg'ies in the back seat & a full tank of fuel : )
Find some speed bump's & start by going over slow
to check, then increase. Good Luck & we sure hope
you post pictures of them on your Monte

You'll be fine with the width. There are things like backspacing and offsets that determine where the rim sits and how much tire goes into the wheel well, so you can't base it by the looks of what you currently have, it all depends on the rim.

Usually what tirerack says is very accurate, so what they recommend will fit without any issues.

You should contact ASA and see if they make blue inserts. Painting with tires is difficult with all the grime and dirt and stress they go under.

Plus when you add paint, you are actually adding surface area, and the inserts may not sit properly.

I also can't wait to see pictures of them on your Monte. I was always drawn to those rims, but never knew if the spokes would be too thin for my liking... but I do have a black/red/silver car...
