Default 225/60 to 245/55 will it work?

Anyone out there go up from a 225/60/16 to a 245/55/16 and did it work? My car's a 1999 Z34, and I know that GM had to increase the turning radius on these cars just to get the 225/60's to fit, so I'm thinking there's probably not much room for a 245. Figured I'd ask though.

I would not do that. I think A) its a little on the wide side for that car. B) a 55 tire on a 16" wheel will not fill up your wheel well enough, and it will look weird.

Probably is too wide, however the sidewall of a 245/55 would be the same as a 225/60. 225 x .60 = 135. 245 x .55 = 134.75. The aspect ratio (the 55) is how tall the sidewall is in comparision to the width of the tread.

Duh! You're completely right. I was not thinking that one all the way through. But in any event, yea, I would say you're pushing it for width. Maybe a 235 would fit though?

We've already reached the point when a bone stock, no option minivan has 225 series rubber, so the 225's on the Monte look so plain. The new Camaro comes standard with 245/55/18's. Optional from the factory are 275/40/20's. The dealer will sell you 21's if you want. Crazy.

i'd give it a try, you should be fine unless your car is lowered, if your getting a good deal on them i'd say try em
