I hear ya! That is a good reason for the extra expense.

I installed the KYB struts with no issues at all, only took about 20 minutes per side (minus the brake job and Sway bar end links) Now I have a couple issues... First off, I think they may be the wrong struts... The car stands higher (at least to me.. I will post pics of the side view of the Monte.. Then, I hear a clunking noise when the suspension "Unloads". Any clue what that may be ? Thanks again guys

How long ago did you do this? The struts usually need time to settle. You could be riding "higher" for a good week.

Clunking could be a bushing somewhere.

I replaced the struts on my 2000 LS Monte Carlo at 129,000 miles. I used KYB quick struts
purchased at tirerack.com about $120. a piece. The car has a much better ride now than the high milage original struts were providing but not as good as when the original struts had low milage.

I just recently replaced all four struts (Monroe) on my 02 SS, including springs, mounts, sway bars, and some front end parts. A good suspension makes a huge difference. It cost some money, but totally worth it. The Monroe's have a lifetime warranty.
