my new rims!
heres the new rims i painted. I sanded down the old grey ones I had that the kid sprayed all *jacked* up, and painted them nice. heres a picture of the first one done. what do you guys think?
i did a walkthrough in the how to sections... take a look! the one big thing is, i think im going to have them spayed with clear coat. would this keep the rims from being so fragile to scratches and the general weather?

im thinking of painting them the same color, gloss black. I might do a red chevy bow tie in the center... thats still up in the air!
ideally, i want to have them smooth and glossy. i tried to do that as well as I could, but, i didnt want to ruin them 3/4ths the way into painting. i tried a test on the back of some spare aluminum and painted it with "wheel clear coat". it added even more of a texture look (almost a speckle of it just being sprayed like crap) and then turned it more dull. i think body clear coat will help me get the protection and the look im aiming for in the end.

It looks great. But I don't think you are going to be able to beat the elements with anything but a good powdercoating.
I'd expect to be doing touchups, but it's a fantastic look.

Just waiting on a good deal for rubber. its the last thing I need to do before my car is pretty much where I want it to be. think me finding a set of used tires for less than 200 balanced and mounted is unreasonable?
