This guy I met said that low profile tires were made for racing because more rubber is touching the ground so the brakes and pick up should be better, but I'm like you I'm not taking any chances, especially with these ga drivers

More rubber is true, but rotational mass is more of a factor.

Guess i'll have to check them out when i get off work ! I have 245/35R 20 on my Monte and they stand 26.8" Vs 26.7" of the 245/45R 18 so we all have to watch out for potholes and bad roads on my old burban I had 275/45R 20 and I cracked two wheels hitting a pothole doing 60 coming around bend so pretty much your not save until 50/55 series!
