Default Monroe Matic vs. Sensa-Trac Struts

Hello. I drive a 2000 MC LS, formerly a smooth ride, but not anymore. My rear driver's side strut is broken and I am going to replace both rear struts. The best prices I have found are the Monroe struts from RockAuto.com.

My question is, does anyone have an opinion on the difference between the Monroe Matic strut (#71662) and the Monroe Sensa-Trac strut (#801662)? The Sensa-Trac's would cost about $20 more for the pair, so I was wondering if they are worth the additional cost. My Monte is my baby and I want what's best for her, but I lost my job a while ago and I am on a very tight budget. Please let me know if you have any opinions on these struts. Thank you!

id get the sensatracs. when i replaced them on the lumina it had an amazing ride.

make sure to get the mounts. number one cause of premature stut failure

bellows[dustcovers] can be reused with a little persution, and a cut off wheel.

i just reused the rubber seats on the bottom of the spring.

and if your doing yourself, you can rent the spring compressor from autozone. im pretty sure all they need is your ID. some impacts, jack, stands, and a buddy. i would assume its a pain by yourself.

Get the KYB's. Forget everything else. KYB's are the only shock/strut custom made for each application. ALL the others use a few basic shocks, and put whatever ends need to be used to fit. REALLY!

No doubt that the Monroe's are smooth. I put Monroes on LadyT's '99 Silverado Z71. WAY smoother ride than the stock Bilstiens. That was a GREAT decision. I put Monroe's on my '01. BIG mistake, IMO. It smoothed the ride out, made it feel like I was driving a Buick, not a Monte Carlo.
IF you want to FEEL the road, have a little responsiveness, whatever, then stick with the KYBs. Otherwise, like I said, you'll be putting on a GREAT strut, to SMOOTH out the ride. Just don't expect it to feel "sporty" as the stock struts do, cuz they won't.
If you want your ride Buick smooth, get the Monroes.
