Default Lowering springs installed on '06...mixed results.

So I put the Canuck/SSC springs (#21-2921) on my 2006 Monte Carlo LS and while the ride is really great and as good as expected, I'm dissappointed that the car didn't drop to the advertised specs. It lowered 1" in the rear and about 3/4" in the front. I removed the spare and jack from the trunk to even out the drop but it's still quite noticeable. I drove it around for about 50 miles to make sure they're settled but I dunno. I'm thinking I might have to remove a half coil from the front to get it down lower than the back. This sucks.

Sometimes they could take a whole month to settle. I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest.

Why don't you like the 1" drop??

I can live with the 1" drop if it is even front to back. But with the reverse rake it looks like I'm carrying too much junk in the trunk. Not cool. Lower in the front would be best, but even front to back would be ok too.

sscs are supposed to be good. they take a bit to settle. i personally always thought they make the rear look lower too though. i think a couple of the guys on my other forum put spacers in the rear to help out with that reverse rake look.

You also have the base model Monte Carlo, the stock suspension isn't that good. Perhaps it's your stock struts screwing things up to?

I'll give it a couple months before I cut the springs anyway. Hopefully they'll come down a little in front. The car only has 26,000miles on it but I did have to replace the rear strut mounts and rear end links. The struts were fine though.

I heard somewhere that the v8 car is lighter then the v6 car. The v8 is aluminum block and heads where the v6 is a cast iron block and heads.

Please correct me if I am misinformed.

i honestly couldnt tell you if youre right or wrong. you are right about the motors. i was just giving a suggestion as to what might be part of the problem. i would have to assume that the motors are similar in weight. though the 6 is all iron you have to take into account the shorter crank, 2 less rods pistons,rings,lifters,8 valves, pushrods, shorter cam, oil pan main bolts, and what not. then again i wouldnt be surprised to hear ls4 was lighter.

it takes time for the spring to settle. also rims/tires size help a lot on appearance stance too is you have 16" rims on yes it kinda look butt ugly with some gap. 17" or 18" wheels will give that nice stance. i wouldn't chop off any coil btw...for safety.
