Default Lowering Setup

Its time to lower the monte, so I started with ZZP. They have their drop in combo for 789.99, but I added up if I were to purchase all of the parts individually and do it myself it is 200 dollars cheaper. Does anyone know if there is something I am missing there? Attempted to contact ZZP but havent gotten a response yet.

Side note: My car is an 03 and it only has 50k miles on it. Are the top plates something that i will deffinately have to replace? or will my originals be fine with the low miles?

Thank you in advance!

well with all of the parts individually you will have to compress the strut for the spring, which you would probably have to rent a compressor or have someone do it for you, that will add up to almost the same price.

that's bunk.

rental of a spring compressor can't be near $200. check out autozone or a similar auto parts store that has a tool loaner program.

in fact, you can buy your own spring compressor - OTC clamshell variety for about $185 at amazon.

idk what bunk means :p

I'm not sure what exactly is included in the ZZP kit, but to do it correctly, you will need correct motor and trans mounts or spacers, also shorter dogbones, etc.

I'll be honest though, when I posted I was condering a good alignment, not thinking that you'd need that either way

just figured i should chime in here, you will go through CV axles much quicker if you lower the car, but it's just a trade-off like many worthwhile modifications have

good point, they can seriously hurt or kill you if they come loose at the wrong time
i suggest using a vise grip to hold the spring to the arm on the compressor, the coil can spin itself free if you dont

the compressors i bought have safety pins on each hook, doubt they would come loose. i took each spring out in like 10 minutes using an impact gun
