I realize you said randomly, but is there any commonality? Bumps, turns, straight & level flight? A bad ISS will clunk during turns...

Probably either strut mounts and/or struts. Did you check the springs? A busted spring can be very annoying let us know, I am interested to see what you find out. Hope for a cheap fix!

Thank you. I'll check the strut mounts. I just installed new cv joints. The noise still seams to be there. Would I need new struts with 65K miles?

To best give responses, where is the "clunk" or can you isolate it to when it occurs.

I've sometimes tried pushing a car down and release to see if during that motion/bounce a noise re-occurs. One such time (on a '93 Grand Am), I found the linkage between the lower control arm and the sway bar broke and the "clunk" was from those piece banging together).

Yep, it could be the mounts. Because, my Monte had the same noise as yours. So I just tightened all the bolts under the hood (medal parts).

I took it to Bell Tire to check it out and they couldn't pint point it.
