Default how big of a drag slick will fit?

hi im wondering what size drag slick or drag radial tire will fit on stock height 86 monte carlo without narrowing the rear end. i want to put something like a 305 on it but im not sure if it will fit, my reason for wanting to put slicks on the car is its gonna have around 500hp so i think slicks would be the only way to get a decent time down the 1/4

I'm running a 325/50 15 bfg drag t/a on the rear of my 75. I saw an 85 ss at summit running the same tire as me. Not sure if it was the stock rear axle or not, nor do I know what the backspacing on the rims was. They did stick out past the fender lips a little, but didn't look bad. I've also seen a 78 with 9 inch slicks on it with a stock width axle, but not sure on the backspacing on this one either. Sorry I don't have more info for you.

okay thanks, thats the kinda of info i was looking for, is ur axle stock length or modified, and i guess its okay if the stick out past the fender lips a little bit, cause im not gonna drive down the road with these tires on it, just down the track.
