Default First step to good looking brakes!

Well, for a northern Ohio winter, today was pretty good. Upper 30's on the temp, no snow, not much if any wind. What did *I* do....? Yeah, I went one wheel at a time and pulled the calipers and rotors off on my Monte (winterized outside).

Why? Well, since I got my sweet new rims, the brakes show through and well, they just don't look AWESOME! So.... My plans are to POR15 the surfaces of the brake rotors that done get touched by the pads with there silver/gray paint. The brakes, I want to powder coat (if the cost is too high, I'll paint them). I want the calipers to be red, but the brackets that hold them, I'm not sure about yet. Silver/Gray? Maybe black? Not sure yet.

But the first step is done, getting the brakes off and now they are in the garage. To avoid brake fluid all over my driveway, I put the flex lines into baggies and a zip tie to hold the baggie on, yeah, that sill leaked fluid. So I too 4 empty pop bottles and since the line would not fit in the top, cut a hold in it and slid the line in the bottles.

Nice tip with the bottles

I think you should paint the bracket black. It will look nice with the red calipers IMO.

Silver will look the best. Its going to stand out the most than the red and flow better. I'm about to do the same thing next weekend. The blue is flaking off and it just doesn't go well. Somehow we are thinking alike . I'll just be using the silver Dupli-color kit.
