Default cleaning question

ok, this summer im going to take all 4 tires off and super clean the rims.

My question is that If i do take them all off, will I have to get them re-aligned?

I really want to give them a good cleaning, so I just want to know..

Also, any advice to go about cleaning (chemicals and methods) are greatly appreciated!

You're going to take the tires off the rims?

Alignment isn't changed by taking the wheels off- thats only if you mess with the suspension- the wheels bolt right back where they were before- so its not an adjustable thing.

As for balancing- if you don't get the tire/rim lined up exactly like before (make a grease pen mark on the inside of the tire/rim)- then you'll need to have them rebalanced.

sorry for not being clear, I am just taking the tires and rims off as a whole. just taking them off the car.

I really want to clean the inside of them.

i recomend the power ball.

they just came out with a "power cone" mad for rims.

i wouldnt bother taking them off the car. just give her the old reach around. lol

either that or use some degreaser, let it sit, then spray it off at the car wash.

Ahh, makes sense. I do this every year as well (Although I probably won't on my GXP since I can reach through the spokes just fine).

There is no need for a rebalance or alignment in that case.

This may sound funny, but if you have chrome rims, non ammonia glass cleaner like Stoners does wonders and it will not hurt the finish.

Simple Green will clean just about anything. And make sure the wheels/nuts/wheel studs have plenty of time to dry before you bolt everything back up, or you'll trap water in there and it'll rust and corrode things. (been there/done that.)
