Question It Broke-Can't STOP-Need HELP ~> PLEASE - Pictures of Prob !!

I was checking my brake pads because the rotors had minor rough streaks on it (to the touch). While doing so, I was wondering why my rotors were uneven and the brake pads didn't even wear down. I took a look a lil bit further and seen THIS: The first photo on the left.

Now I do not know know what part that is but the fact it is broke is what puzzlin me. I have been driving around and around not knowing why my front end was shaking while I brake from moderate to high speeds. Now, I know I need to replace that part ASAP but I just dont know what it is. While checking the brakes, the bolt that holds the caliper (on the passenger side) had broken while taking it off. What luck am I having.....lol. Its good that I seen the problem before It had gotten worse. If anyone can suggest any advice or know how, I will gladly appreciate it....

Hey KidSpace, I really appreciate the help you have provided for the DIY job. I know I will have to replace the caliper one day (just that rough dirty look is not whats happenin...lol), I can't complain because so far it is getting me around. The problem I am having is with the first photo on that part that is broken. Now I also added the rotor pics up there to show that my rotors are unbalanced (meaning, rough streaks on the rotor). By looking at that broken part today, I am sure that the reason why my front rotors are experiencing rough surfaces is because of that part. I do not know what that part is. But, I really do thank you for the extra info on how to change brakes and rotors. What I think I know, I don't know because there is always something else to get the job done.

first off when you get shaking from hitting your brakes at 60 then its your rotors. take them to napa or your local machine shop to see if they can turn them.

check your brake fluid, it seems to me that your calipers may be sticking. or you use them violently a lotl.

broken should make your feel bumps more and give you a vibrating steering wheel on the highway. i know they are cheap to replace. ive had mine done already, not sure what causes it though. my roads are horrible.

sidenote:whenyour working on your car try not to wear dockers.

@ dustpusher: Thanks for the headz up. From what I am seeing now on the net (trying to buy it), I think the sway bar repair kit is needed instead of the bar itself. I am also trying to find instructions on how to repair it but not even the Haynes Repair Book helping me....

@ mak330: Your right, the rotors does need to be turned. The thing is, what about the used (good) brake pads that was on the rotors? I do think the calipers need to be replaced with new ones. Thats no question about that.

Also, chicago roads are not the easy roads to drive on (smh)....

you shouldn't need new calipers, maybe a rebuild kit for them!

I haven't had no problems while braking with the calipers doing their job but I guess thats why I still have the "Red" brake light on my dash and uneven front rotors huh...
