arm question
ok so i noticed a while back that my rear tires lean inward. so today i got under the car and noticed the horrible suspension pieces under there.
my question is
what is the part that goes from the hub to the center{gas tank area}??? theres 2 of them, one on each side.
i think that and the rear sway bar would help the most. thanks

i think its the control arm. thanks. that doesnt sound right, is 8 the same as a lateral arm.
would the trailing arms help that too. lol everything under there seems very thin and bent. lol expecially the control arms.
or do i have the wrong train of thought. can i do an allignment{some sort of camber adjust}
ps i have some extra weight in the trunk, thinking that thats not helping.
would rear heightening springs help???

If you install lowered springs, I beleive you need to re-adjust the camber. You might need the BMR type adjustable rods. Not certain. Maybe someobne else has had experience w/ adjustment. If you purchased new tires you should check rear alignment for toe.
The TWO rods from under 1/4 panel back to spindle is the "rear trailing arm"; not adjustable but up-grades from UMI Performance.

thanks, i was checking out bmrs stuff and thinking i might just save up for the whole shabang.
after really checking out the flimsiness of every component, it seems neccesary.
its like 700 for the 4 lateral arms, 2f and 2 rear, 2 r traling arms and f and r stb's.
so your saying that i can adjust the lean back to normal, i got 4 tires about a year ago, and got a free four wheel alignment from goodyear, maybe they didnt do the best job or maybe i just have too much weight back there for the thin arms.
plus with the bmr stuff they come with poly bushings, and i need new bushings anyways.
sorry to ramble on, but does anyone know if they fit on an 07??? it says 00-06 on there site, lol maybe a typo, cause im sure the 06 and 07 are the same car, minus the tpms and ltz option.

I would buy the ZZ STB's if they make one to fit. ASK them before you buy; e-mail them with a specific car and question about the STB fitting YOUR car. I ask the forum as you did BUT do not rely on others to be correct about fitment. '06 and '07 MIGHT be different. Seems all manufactures address a difference in years. Mine is a '96 and I'm seeing some '97 stuff fits some does not. Better ask for certain
Ask the manufacture or direct dealer. Then if you have a prob you can return it as wrong information allowing a refund; assuming it's in new unused cond.
Your first post mentioned bent rods. Are they bent? IF yes them maybe upgrade to BMR as the BMR's are about the same price as OEM's
AS for bushings How many miles on your car. Poly bushings do wear out fairly quick. OEM's last a long long time.

thanks, i had the alignment done after the weight.
so aparently i need heightening springs or they didnt do a great job, like i said b4 it was free, when i spent a lot of money on tires.
ill take a closer look but they do look bent.
also i thought polys last a long time and oem's get mushy. plus the bmrs have zirc fittings.
i deffinatly need some bushings in the front, i can hear the mush when i go slow over bumps. then again i live in pothole usa, so im sure i go though suspension parts faster then most.

I actually just fixed my buddies GTP because he backed into a pole and bent his lateral arm and trailing arm on the drivers side. #8 and #9 in the picture above. If you are talking inward as in left to right and not up and down then you probably bent one of those or both. The lateral arm that is toward the rear of the car is easy to replace but the one more toward the font you have to drop the gas tank a little to get the bolts or drop (#2) in the pic, which is the bracket that holds everything. The trailing arm is pretty easy but the bolt that holds it to the knuckle can be hard to take off. That bolt is a 24mm in case you go to take it off. I had to heat mine up with a torch to get it loose. Other people use the ZZP super thick lateral arms and ZZP trailing arms, but I have heard this really doesn't improve the handling THAT much. Dorman sells both the lateral arms and a solid trailing arm that you could use to replace the "U" shaped ones that are already in there. Hope that helps!

ive heard for a long time that the w bodys suspension was its weak point.
ive been under there a few times and never really apid attention.
now that ive felt the lateral control arms they look bent for sure, also i have some extra weight so i want some beefier components that will last.
i know i dont need all of it, but you get a deal when you buy all at once.
ive been wanting the front and rear stbs for a while now.
to the other guy im not sure what toe or whatever means but the top of the wheel is more towards the inside. both rear wheels are leaning towards the center of the car. i know slightly leaning is good for traction but too much lean like i have is bad.
i will take pics, maybe tommorrow.
also ive been working 50 to 60 hours a week and have a little extra cash.
idk why, but i feel i need to mod my monte. it helps me want to keep it, and not trade it in.
im not going to sugar coat this car like many others do, and im sure the ss's have better components, but there are weak points that i feel need to be upgraded.
also, baring a major wreck, its pretty hard to bend bmr or zzp bars. stock stamped or small od/hollow steel is cheap, but not effective.
