Default 06-08 Wheels Rubbing on 01 SS

I just got my 06-08 SS wheels and they barely hit the strut tower in the back. They are 50s instead of 45s which is why I am betting they hit. Is there anything I can do to make 'em fit or do I need to get different tires?

Factory tires on 06-07 monte ss' s are 235/50 r18. There have been a few people with pre 2006 montes have run these wheels and I haven't heard of them hitting. Maybe someone will chime in.

Yeah I think I read somewhere that it was hit or miss on whether or not the 235/50R18's would hit. They are simply TOO tall, so getting a 45 SHOULD help my problem...lol

I always tell people when they run the 7th Gen Rims to get a 45 height tire.

Do you have anything in the trunk? You'll probably have to get a newer tire. Or upgrade to the FE4 suspension haha

You COULD hammer up the strut plate but that's always a terrible idea

Well two of the tires are brand new, two have around 50% tread left. They are Goodyear Eagle RS-A Tires. I am going to trade them into a local shop and have them take out the TPMS as well so I can sell them. Hopefully I can trade straight up or for little or nothing. As for the trunk, YES I do have my sub and box and of course spare tire, I also have a small toolbox prolly 30 lbs full and a small jack instead of the crappy side of the road one. Dunno if that would give me enough height or not if I took all that out...lol

You'll probably be fine if you took everything out of the trunk and didn't have any rear passengers haha

Look up the suspension of the 2006 Monte SS and get part numbers and match them.

I went to GM Parts Direct and under 06 rear suspension. Strut w/firm ride $60 a side, I assume I would need the spring also?
