Default '04 Monte SS needs tires NOW What Kind?

Hi-
I have the factory Goodyear RSA with 44K on them and it is time to replace them. They are not down to the wear indicators but we are gathering all the nails off the roads so it is time for a replacement. Three flats are enough, I do like those low air indicators!

I have considered Firestone Firehawk GT's and Yokahama's, one being the AS430's. The 430's are Big O Tires proprietary model and I am not certain as to which Yokahama it is equal to if any. I don't care much for the BIG O store and their prices.

I do not wish to make the ride "softer" I want to retain the sport characteristic of the vehicle.

I read on the forum here that Yokahma Avid TRZ's are good. I have not checked a price on these.

I certainly don't want to buy Goodyear RSA's, did read the Eagle F1 Goodyear’s were liked by a poster here.

We live in Tucson AZ so snow is not an issue here, heat is.

I have 50k k on the LS's and I have the same issue as you.

No wear bars but plenty of nails and screws having their way.

I still seriously think I am going to go with Falken.

I actually just bought Kumho SolusKR21tires....They're not the sportiest looking tire, but they have a good tread pattern and ride great. I was very leery of buying them because I had never known anyone who used them, but I'm glad I did. It just depends on what you want the tire for--looks, performance, longevity. I wanted a long lasting tire because I don't have the money to put tires on my car every 30,000 miles. The Kumhos have an 85,000 mile treadwear warranty. The Goodyear TripleTreds I have on my Malibu are also 85,000 mile tires.
