Default Swap Opportunity

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS with a 3400 motor. The car has 240000 miles on it. The transmission was replaced 2 years ago and has much less milage on it. A friend has a Grand Prix with a L36 engine with 100K on the motor. What needs to be done in order for him to swap out my 3400 and transmission to the L36 and transmission?

There may not be any one who has made that swap? here but I did check google and found the following listings that may help.

I believe there has been at least one person to go from a 3400 to a L67 on this forum.

I believe the engine and trans will drop right in. The problem you will bump into is wiring harnesses. Even though the Grand Prix and the Monte are sibling cars, the wiring differs a bit between them. You may need to hit the junk yard for Monte L36 wiring harnesses or do some splicing to adapt.

You will want to grab the PCM as well from the donor car (and you *MIGHT* need the vin in the PCM reprogrammed).
