This is 2 miles from my house. Right at the Tennessee/North Carolina line.

When I was in Tennessee back in June and July, the folks I was working with talked about the Mountains. I said what Mountains? I showed them my pics of Wolf Creek pass which at Mothers day still had snow on it. and I am thinking I saw a sign 9,000 feet? Now that's a Mountain. 
But Tennessee is a beautiful State. and the people are the nicest I have ever encountered. You could be in a Parking Lot and the street was full of cars and someone would let you in every time. Not in Nebraska, you get out of line and you don't get back in. And the ladies in Tennessee when you open a door for them ( which I do all the time) they would thank you for it, Not in Nebraska. not a reason to quit doing it. But not the most grateful either.

I am sorry (I Lied) it is actually 10,856 ft. 
Yeah your ears will really pop, then they got these runaway truck lanes in case you loose your brakes.
Always remember to gear the car down the mountains never use the brakes, some folks will ride the brakes down the mountains and they overheat and will actually Warp the Rotors and then you get a shake/shatter when you brake normally.
The only way to fix it is to have the rotors turned.
Back in 08 my son graduated from college and he got a job in Arizona. So our last stop was Flagstaff overnight before we went into Phoenix.
It is all down hill and had some really steep grades. My son tells I am driving the rental truck to slow. I had it plus the trailer on it with his Monte on it.
I was driving with the gears.
When we got to Phoenix his girlfriend told me the brakes couldn't have been working on that truck cause the lights in the back never came on.
I said yeah I know I never touched them all the way down.
She freaked, how did you do that? All in the gears.
All those truck driving miles of experience paid off.
