How did I miss this thread! Very cool Mitch. My friend Dennis (he owns an 02 SS Earnhart edition and an 87 Aerocoupe) used to work at the AMC plant. He lives in Pleasant Prairie. All 3 of us should cruise some shows this summer!

Awesome car. Very cool to bring a car back that was your grandpas. Will be a fun project to bring up and cruise around in.

Thanks! I don't get on forums as much as I'd like lately, but I'll definitely be updating as much as I can!

Thank you! That's awesome! My grandpa used to work in Kenosha in the mid-60's.. This is an original Kenosha car and is a 66, probably build in 65... I can only wonder if he had a chance to work on this very car and then later own it... the wonder alone will make me keep the car for life.

I'm always down for a cruise! This car makes me not want to even drive the WS6 to be honest, the raw feel of the Rambler is so fun!

If there is a cruise that you two want to go to, just let me know, I'll try to make it work!

Thanks! I know I've probably talked to you and Brock the most about it, I appreciate the support, can't wait to drive it this spring

that's probably one of the most option loaded ramblers I've ever seen... A/C, AM/FM, rear speaker, buckets / console, power disc brakes, 327 & a 4 BBL? that stuffs unheard of on an AMC! really neat car, you should look into exactly what options it has and see if you can get an idea how many were built optioned like yours, i'd say there's a good chance it's a very low production setup if not one off.

cool project, and nice to see someone working on something tougher to get parts for than a '65 buick, lol

Thanks for the kind words! parts are definitely a pain.. that's for sure. I've already started stocking up a bit on parts that I know will be hard to find soon.

I have been told by many AMC guys that they believe it to be a dealer floor model and that it is very rare to have this amount of options. I had the vin decoded and it is a true 327 4BBL car, which was less than 5% of the Classics in '66.

As for updates...

I got the exhaust manifolds this weekend and they're dirty, but clean and rare high flow models as well! I'm going to point/polish/paint them and remove the little flap in there.

As you can see in the first photo, there are some floor mats as well, I was able to find some floor mats for cheap, so I figure I can cut them up and make them fit for the summer. Also, there are the valve covers that will be getting sand blasted and painted.

I also ordered a bunch of the ignition stuff..

-Pertronix Electric Ignition Kit
-Pertronix Flame Thrower Coil
-327 Valve Cover Decals
-4" stainless exhaust tips to poke just a little right behind the rear wheels
-Holley Chrome Air Cleaner (to hold me off til I can find a stock replacement)
-Exhaust Manifold Gaskets (I have some currently, but they're individual for each port, these are the one solid gasket, will be good to get a feel for porting and so I can make duplicates)
-Upper and lower radiator hoses

The only things I need now are tires and mufflers.. the rest is just installation.

I will order the tires come spring and then the mufflers will be picked up just before I go to the exhaust shop.. Going with thrush welded mufflers, since I loved my Flowmaster Delta Flow 40's on my truck.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I got my carb in and man is this thing beautiful! I can't wait to get it installed, I have a bunch of other parts coming in this week, mainly ignition, but an air cleaner (chrome holley) for the carb, that should look decent, but really just hold me over until I can get a stock one.

I'm getting really excited for spring.. I only wish my grandpa was here to see the progression of the build..

Got a text this morning, have two of the packages in today already, should be 2 more following and then the last two tomorrow and Friday.

Spring can come any time now!

It should be a good spring that's for sure! I can work on the Rambler and drive the WS6.. hopefully save some money to get the WS6 paid off and then look for my next daily

I have a heated garage, but just knowing it's cold outside makes it tough to want to work out there haha
