Dale Jr #2081 resurrection thread!
Update again!
Supercharger is off and mostly apart!
It looks like it was (obviously) not a gen 5, but a horrible rebuild. Looks like everything is original, except the snout. We are assuming the snout was just a junkyard snout or cheap rebuild. Bearings don't sound too good. Coupler has oval holes instead of round holes. The oil has metal shavings. ALOT of metal shavings. Whoever charged my friends family for a 'new' supercharger seriously ripped them off.

That Suck's , Hope you can get one cheap.. I bought the polished one on my monte SS used for $200 shipped to my house..
Yea, it will be my first. In reality alot of the stuff we need to do is pretty simple when you examine where things go, what things do, how things work...
I congratulate you on your job. These are nice cars. In ten years or so these editions will be hard to come by. It took me a year to find a low mileage one within 500 miles. I probably have too many cars now
Supercharger snout is completely dissassembled, waiting on more funds to come along to replace the bearings. Also going to replace the rotor bearings while we are at it. Whoever 're-built' this supercharger SERIOUSLY ripped off my friend who I bought the car from. $600 for a junkyard snout and well....nothing else changed...
some pictures.....
that little ring...was a BASTARD to get off....

bad coupler, probably reused an original one...

the bearings did feel smooth, but we wanted to be sure we don't need to take this thing apart for a long time....
outer bearing

Tried pressing off the inner bearing and....did it wrong >_< Figured out how though and the inner portion of whats stuck on the shaft came off.

see the silvery spot? Yea..all the black around it is residue from improper lubrication. I'mhoping the residue is only from the bearings and not the rotor gears.

You would think anyone who had the snout off would have at bare minimum changed the coupler. That's really worn. Although I suppose it wears faster when the bearing is screwed
