Alright... Figured I had to clear up some misconceptions. Oh Boy, you beat a 3g POS FWD V6 Congratulations. You take a long look at some of the DSM forums. Wait, let me explain. DSM was Diamond star motors, a cooperation between Mitsubishi and Chrysler from 89-94 and brought forth the 1st Generation of Eclipse, Talon, and Laser. This cooperation was based out of a town in Illinois called Normal. The plant still exists to this day building, wouldn't you know it, Mitsubishi cars. Where's your car built? You try to take on a True blue Eclipse, Im talking a 90-99 GS-T or GSX or a 90-98 Talon TSI or TSI AWD. My car is mostly stock and I guarentee that I'd smoke the **** out of you. Oh, guess what? I get 23 MPG. Let see, my car also came with a an open diff front, open center diff, and a Viscous Limited Rear diff. Stock, our cars run a 14.7. What does yours run? John Shepard has the fastest DSM. As far as I know, he ran a 7.7something in a hard blocked car. His car has the stock AWD retained and it's all steel except for the hatch and hood. Heres my buddy's car and timeslip.
Car:92 Talon
Motor:4g63 Turbo
Weight:~3400
60ft: 1.802
1/8th:8.099
1/8th MPH:85.93
1/4th:12.66
MPH:107.9
Mine hasn't been to the strip yet otherwise I'd post that.

Oh, and 08 WRX's come stock AWD Turbo. Just like some DSMS. Maybe you should do some research before you post stupid redneck ****.

Hey ricerboy, why do you feel the need to come on a Monte forum and smack talk about DSM's? I've got friends who have 1g dsm's, and they feel like your sitting in an escort. You can't compare those pos's to our Monte's. I also love how you mentioned your "viscous" diff. Those things are garbage.

I personally dont like smack talk, but in this section we just talk about races we have had. There is no need to take offense to the stuff that is said in here. Your "I'm a ricer, therefore I am smarter than you" attitude is what i dislike about you and most other "tuner kids" around my area.

No, a ricer is a Honda civic with a fart can and a "carbon fiber" hood with the stock b18. If our viscous couplers are garbage, then why are they running 7's? Show me 1 Monte that has run 7's on stock driveline? And I can compare our POS, as you put it, to your montes. This is a racing forum, your talking timeslip, not spacious cargo room. My post wasn't even directed to you. And so you know, The reason I'm smarter than you is because I know what I'm talking about, I do **** with my car, I'm the one out there under the hood when something goes wrong. I put all the mods I have on my car, I don't have to pay for someone to take apart my car for me.

Someone has to win and someone has to lose...but who ever that might be take it and bring it back with something a little different and see if it stays the same.. I love all cars and had about everything in the muscle car era there was and still got a few left but also got some ricer that aren't to bad, but i don't break to bad on anyone'scar. but i like facts for sure..time slips is one way to show what you got... Pictures are great to show how good they look )0 to the end 1/4 mile is what counts how fast you are...

Personaly I love pretty much all cars. I use to hate on ricer all the time, mostly it's because my buddy is a ricer and just always **** talk from there. But from hanging with him I've come to find out that there is a lot of potentialout of those cars. My buddy had a 96 Eclipse GSX that was beefed up a little bit and a pretty quick ride. But do I love my Monte, yes, has it beaten a stock GSX, yes.But a GSX is still a pretty nice quick/ride, but the 2000 and upEclipse'ssuck compare to the old GST-GSX's. I'm not sayin my Monteis the fastest thing in the world and hasn't been my fastest car I've owned. She might be heavy, and rides really nice, and holds a bunch of cargo, but she can still get up and run.

I owned a DSM 92 Plymouth Laser RS AWD (can't remember if I listed it in my "every car I've owned" list or not) for about a year and a half. As I recall, it was a nice, well-built ride that was fun to drive in the snow. I bought it used in 93, and the dealer told me that the only problems people were experiencing was with the AWD system.

It was fairly fast, but certainly nothing special -I recall getting smoked badly on the street by a couple of Mustangs and Camaros.

I didn't get an extended warranty with the car, so as soon as the factory warranty expired, I traded it in on a 94 V-8 Thunderbird. As I was driving it home, I remember thinking "Ahhh...this is more like it".

We can argue performance all day long, but for comfort and safety, larger cars (like the Monte) win hands-down. Insurance industry statisticsindicate that the more metal you have around you in a crash, the betteryou're going to fare. Having seen hundreds of crashes first-hand (involving everything from Civics to semi's), I can assure you this is indeed true.
