Default My 05 SS Vs Uncles 2007 silverado 5.7

After work somedays me and my uncle drive side bye side down the perimeter highway. He usally is always behind me THEN he will just flys by me.. at work we always bull **** and he always says that the silverado is to much for the MONTE......

WELL TODAY I had my way... We hit a Red light on the perimeter highway the 1 and only set of lights on the perimeter highway. I looked at him and he was ALL ready To race.. off the line my uncle had great start (I just didnt want to Spin tires) he had me by atleast a half of a car length.. at around 55mph I started to pull ahead of him. Once I was a half car length ahead of him I looked down at speedo and was doing 90-95Mph.

I really don't belive it. but i know my ucnle he drives hard and he gave it all shes got (its a lease he says :S ) that was my fun for the day

your uncles 2007 chev truck could have been a 4.8 a 5.3 a 6.0 or many others but not a 5.7 that is the old SBC size unless he was dumb enough to swap in an older SBC. and your 3.8 should spank the truck off the line especially if its S/C.

Nice race!

But I am assuming your uncle has the 6.0 V8, because like member Justin Knight said, they didnt have the 5.7L in 07.

It does sound like a 6.0L because I can't imagine a 5.3L giving an L67 a fight, lol. Plus like whats been said already, there wasn't a 5.7L offered in the 07 Silverados. Next time I guess I wouldn't be too bashful and just have fun so that it's not so close.

the 4.8 and the 5.3 are both powerhouses and with the correct gear ratio will rip apart a set of rear tires. in 2007 a 5.3 makes 315hp/338ft.lbs its no slouch.

its gotta be a 5.3 bc in 07 they went from the 6.0 which was only in the SS Silverado 1500 to the caddy escalade motor which i believe is the truck LS3 but was only available in the GMC Denali that year, & unless it was a 2500 im sure it wasnt a 6.0

you could get a 6.0 in a 1500HD a 4.3 v6, 4.8 v8, 5.3 v8, 8.1 v8 in 1500's. a 5.3 v8, and a 6.0 v8, 8.1 v8 and the duramax diesel in 2500, scratch the 5.3 in 3500 and the rest are the same.
better yet heres your history lesson on vortec and others in gm truck/suv's
from recent years. its a good read and factual.
