Launching RPMS?

Launching RPMS?
Ok, so I was hanging out with the car club guys and we were reving our engines to see how our exhausts sounded to eachothers,
When I rev mine and let off and reved at 4500 rpm's my car wanted to take off, it was pushing foward in park,
My question is should I keep on the brake and rev to 4500 rpms when the tree is on its last yellow at the drag strip and then launch at the green light?
Do you think this is a good speed to launch at and is better than just holding the gas down till the green light to let the brake go to launch?
If I launch at 4500 when my car wants to take off you think my time would improve more?

RE: Launching RPMS?
I think he's saying that you are just going to spin the tires instead of launching forward, that it would hurt more than help. Especially since your traction control is off for the strip.

i'd think you'd break the tires free.....
i usually launch at around 1200 to 1500 rpms....

When i went to the track this summer i started at 2000rpm with no tire spin so i went to 2500rpm still no tire spin. then went to 3000rpm with no tire spin so i went to 3500rpm and got some tire spin so i went to 3300rpm with no tire spin and got my best 60 foot and ET. this was all on my stock rims with fuzion HRI tires.
To me it all depends on how well the track is preped.

Those are good responses, I think I will do what you did 2000, I will do some passes and try different rpms and see where my tires dont spin at, plus I will do a little bit of burnouts to get good traction, The burnouts last time helped me get from 16.1 to 15.9 as well as me improving my reaction time to .35 to .4 last time. Can't wait to see the cold air intake really work this time with actual cold air instead of hot air.

RE: Launching RPMS?
our track was repaved 2 years ago, maybe i need better tires than National Ovations... they are CRAP, good minivan or sedan tire though... and rated to 130, even though its not a sports tire.
my car can break those front wheels free easy.. and your best times will be with traction control off. the traction control by sensing a tire breaking free, and then cutting power to it!!! you don't want that.... if you had a good tire you could probably launch REALLY well at about 2500... but I can't
