1800-2200rpm is the best for the 3800/4t65E in stock form or lightly modded on street tires.
If you're at the track launching, do not go through the burnout box if you have street tires. Go around it, stomp the gas for a split second just to make the tires spin off the little rocks and any dirt that might get in the way of traction. Pull up to the line, hold your brake, when the last light hits before the green, let go of the brake, and take 1 full second to "ease" into full throttle. You will need to be very conservative at first, since the first urge is to mash the gas, and go ***** out. Be patient, and practice.
If it's on the streets, go by the seat of your pants as to what pulls you forward best. Usually, it's the same rule... take 1 second to get to full throttle, depending on the conditions.

What's the best way to launch?
Well it depends on a couple things.
1. Car and modds done to it as for as CAI, U-bend ect.
2. Tires on your car. Are they aftermarket or stock?
3. Track. Each track is different and set fourth a list of difficulties.
Seems like everyone likes between 1 and 2 grand. Depends on a combo of the 3. I would recomend lower tire pressure to about 20lbs? maybe a little more or less. A guy at the track as a 04 SS s/c and he winds his up to I'd say about 2000+ and eases into the gas. But then again he's got aftermarket tires along with a lot of experience.
Your best bet is to just go out there with a general ballpark and adjust.
Good Luck
