Uh yeah.. Like I said above, "He spun like a madman trying to grab some ashphalt, my traction control light lit a few times."
Yeah the phrase would be "He was trying to hook up like a dog on a hardwood floor." =D

Well. I am back. And unfortunatly. Not as victorious.

We started off same as before. Same conditions, same road. He did have some different tires on the gtp this time, which were mounted on some good old steelies. We started off, neck and neck until we got about halfway through first. I was at his door. Second gear came, and he pulled away from me right at 100kph so.. He got me by 3 lenghts. All in all he won his round. I got to talk to him after and learned more about his set up.

His gtp has a 3.4 pulley, ZZP manifolds, ubend delete and a 3" downpipe, and 1.9 ratio rockers. We also noticed his car has a vaccum leak somewhere, which is probably why he only got my by 3 lenghts!

Im not mad. I can at least say I outran a GTP once. But anyone who has said they have never lost either isnt telling the truth, or hasnt raced long.

Now.. I guess I really gotta start playing with this engine if I intend to beat him..

Well, I highly doubt he was running a 2.5" pulley. Perhaps 3.5". Anyone able to run smaller than a 2.8" pulley has done some SERIOUS modifications, and had that been the case, you wouldn't have even had the chance to read his license plate. He would have been GONE.

Good luck tonite! IF he only has a 3.5", there is a good chance that you can kick his rear end!

X2. If he was running 2.5 pulley he whould be in the high 12's to low 13's.

I don't want to be the jerk, but do want to throw a reality check out. There really aren't enough mods for a 3.5 to beat a 3.8 at this time. It might be in the future, but I really doubt it soon. The 3.8 has companies modding it for awhile and is popular in the Monty's and GP's for years now. The 3.5 has only been available for the last 3 years or so and nobody has invested money to upgrade it.

You might be able to build a turbo kit for it though, but you will be risking the transmission and a few other things that haven't been tested. That's what sucks about being an early adapter.
