make sure when talking to crutchfield that they know your looking for an aftermarket speaker to go with the stock system, if you buy a speaker that is going to have too many RMS Wattage, then it probably won't sound the best, if you're going to replace the rear speakers also, you may want to start looking into a 4-channel amp, and if you're just wanting to increase sound quality overall you might be looking into an amp. But with a lower wattage speaker on the stock system you should be pretty close to stock sound

Can I recommend contacting Moradpartscompany.com and just see if they have a stock replacement??

(I'm with you on the audio thing, I have a stock system and have no idea how to change that, nor do I have a want to haha)

Thanks, I'll check them out also... I did contact an AC Delco dealer and he told me that they are $300 and change for the stock replacement, once I got up off of the ground and shook my head I decided to look around...lol... I'll post back my findings...

Finally bought my new speakers... I settled on the Sony XS-GT1326A (5 1/4", 2-30watts RMS, 4ohm) 2-way for the doors & Sony XS-GT6936A (6"X9", 2-60watts, 4ohm) 3-way for the rears... I checked Crutchfield for fit and they are both compatible... Just a quick question for you guys, in reading another thread it stated that the speakers in the doors are "Component"???... Is this true? As apparently the wiring would be different and the speakers I got are definately not component... Mine is a 2002 & the thread referred to a 2004... Did I get the right ones for the front?... If not I can still return them... Thanks in advance,

Hello Crusader, the speakers in my 2002 Monte SS are component in the doors. There is a 6" mid-range and the separate tweeter. I have mine left over that you can have free of charge. All you have to do is pay shipping which wont be very much I bet about $6 or so. But I would bet the new speakers will still work, just might not have the separate tweeter. If you look at the door grille just above the mid-range but still in the grille you will see a separate area for a 2" tweeter.
